Dr. Muhammad Fahad

Muhammad Fahad is a PhD candidate at the Robotics and Automation Laboratory at Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken, NJ. He received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, Pakistan and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken, NJ. He received Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken, NJ and successfully defended his dissertation on 21st October, 2019. He is currently working as a robotics research engineer with National Oilwell Varco working on designing robots to automate oil rig operations.

His research interests include cooperative distributed localization, human robot interaction (HRI), deep reinforcement learning (DRL), deep inverse reinforcement learning (DIRL) and generative adversarial imitation learning (GAIL), simulation tools design, parallel simulation frameworks and multi-agent learning. He was awarded Stevens Institute of Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Doctoral Fellowship for academic year 2018-2019, which is a highly competitive program to help fellows study research problems with practical applications. In his research career, he has received one best paper award, one student poster award and several travel grants to attend conferences. He also has 5 years industry working experience which places him in a unique position to tailor his research and teaching to study practical problems.
